CareFirst Mobile Connects Members to their Health
New website, app give members mobile access to account information and more
Baltimore, MD (April 23, 2013) - CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) announced today the launch of a mobile-friendly website and application that allow its 3.4 million members to manage their care, access claims information, view their ID cards and find a doctor or urgent care center at any time from their mobile device.
The CareFirst Mobile website gives CareFirst members a quick, secure and simple way to access their benefits statements, check the status of a claim submitted within the past year and answer basic eligibility questions from any smartphone or tablet with a web browser. By downloading the free CareFirst Mobile app from iTunes or Google Play, members can find the same information on their Apple or Android mobile devices, respectively. The app also allows members to email benefits statements and store their ID card on their device.
To experience the full capability of the CareFirst Mobile website and app, members must have access to the My Account portal at www.carefirst.com. Anyone, however, may view the mobile site or download the app to find information on regional health care providers and nearby urgent care centers, check symptoms of various illnesses or contact a CareFirst customer service representative.
“The smartphone or tablet device in our members’ hands could become the most powerful connection we have with them,” CareFirst President and CEO Chet Burrell said. “By enhancing our mobile access capabilities, we create a more direct, immediate link with our members that gives them anytime access to their personal health information and other programs designed for their wellness.”
With the launch of the CareFirst Mobile app, CareFirst now offers three free apps. Last year, the company began offering:
- Ready, Step, Go, a pedometer app available on iPhone, iPod Touch and Android smartphones; and,
- Symptom Checker, available on iPhone or iPod Touch.
