Know Before You Go - Importance of a PCP
One of the best places you will get consistent, quality health care is with your primary care provider, also known as your PCP.
PCPs play a huge role in keeping you healthy. By visiting him/her for routine visits as recommended, your PCP will get to know you, your medical history and your lifestyle. If you have a medical issue, having a doctor who knows your health history often makes it easier and faster to get the care you need.
If you don’t already have a PCP, you can begin researching one today. Start by asking your family and friends about their doctors, or search our online doctor and facility directory.
When entering your search criteria, look for PCPs who participate in CareFirst’s Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) program. View our FAQ section for more information about the CareFirst PCMH program.
