CareFirst Earns WorldatWork 2017 Seal of Distinction

Award recognizes commitment to work-life effectiveness

Baltimore, MD (January 17, 2017) - CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst), the region’s largest health insurer, has earned WorldatWork’s 2017 Seal of Distinction for its success in creating a positive work environment and providing support for employees in all areas of life.

Since 2012, WorldatWork has awarded the Seal of Distinction to organizations implementing successful work-life programs and policies, including those that promote community involvement, financial support and education, and health and wellness.

“CareFirst has a proven record of promoting respect, fairness and opportunity among all of our associates,” said CareFirst President and CEO Chet Burrell. “This recognition underscores our commitment to encouraging a positive work-life balance as well as our successes in employee engagement.”

CareFirst is one of 160 organizations – and one of three Blue Cross Blue Shield plans – to receive this award in 2017. Past recipients of the Seal of Distinction include Walgreens, Marriott, Staples and Johns Hopkins University and Health System.

In addition to WorldatWork’s Seal of Distinction, CareFirst was recently recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” for the fourth consecutive year and by the Human Rights Campaign as one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
