Using Your HSA or FSA for Supplies and Services
Health Spending Accounts like Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) allow you to pay for eligible medical expenses with pre-tax dollars, reducing your taxable income and overall tax burden.
What’s the difference between an HSA and an FSA?
HSAs are for people with high-deductible health plans and help save for out-of-pocket medical costs. FSAs are employer-sponsored and let you set aside pre-tax money for eligible healthcare expenses.
You can use your HSA or FSA card to cover a variety of pregnancy and family planning items and services.
Family Planning
- Contraceptives: birth control pills, condoms and other contraceptive devices
- Pregnancy tests and fertility kits
- Ovulation monitors: devices to track ovulation cycles
- Fertility Treatments: IVF, IUI and other assisted reproductive technology
Pregnancy
- Prenatal vitamins (vitamins specifically for pregnancy)
- Maternity clothes and items like maternity support belts or belly bands
- Ultrasounds and prenatal tests

Postpartum

- Lactation consultation
