How to Find In-network Care

It is important to keep in mind that a BlueHPN plan covers in-network care only, except in case of an emergency. You have access to a national network of BlueHPN contracted providers, specialists and facilities—but they need to be in BlueHPN to be covered.

Otherwise, if you see a provider that’s not in the BlueHPN, the visit will not be covered. Why? Because it would be considered out-of-network (OON). You would be responsible for paying the total medical bill and it will not apply to your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum.

There is one exception, however. If you need emergency care, you’re covered anywhere—OON or out of the country—regardless of the provider’s or facility’s participation in BlueHPN. Note: If you are seeking urgent care in a BlueHPN market, you must see an in-network provider.
